DUEF Core Values (WE-RISE) is a little different but an extension of DU core values (I_RISE)
The reason is to consolidate DU core values while emphasizing other social values that support the building of a healthier marketplace and/or society.
DUEF Core Values: WE-RISE
WELL-BEHAVED
A basic sign of good education is to be well-mannered (or cultured) which itself includes virtuous attributes: kind words, gentle mien, respectful, making right choices, truthful, among others.
EMPATHY
A heart that is open to the good and true is always kind, caring, compassionate, and high in emotional intelligence. Pay attention to people’s feelings, perspectives, life situations.
RESPECTFUL
Treat everyone with dignity and honor; and value each person’s uniqueness. Have regard for the African wisdom in respecting the elderly and constituted authority.
INTEGRITY
Above all else, strive to be honest in all you do, for it is the foundation of trust and responsibility, the hallmark of true leadership, and without which no true greatness is ever possible.
SERVICE
Be intentional about using your gifts to help build a better society. Your real transformation starts the day you greatest hunger is to serve others outside yourself, to positively change the lives of people outside of you or your circle of friends/family members, ethnic groups.
EXCELLENCE
Challenge yourself to the achievable limits and refuse to settle for the comfort of the familiar. Make it a daily mission to keep improving on your personal best, competing only with the person you were yesterday. It is within that relentless, upward climb that true excellence is born.
